Got offered a manager job at my shop but the pay bump was only $2 more an hour
Last month, the owner pulled me aside and said he wanted me to run the crew and handle scheduling, which sounded good until he showed me the new rate. I took it because I thought it was the right move, but now I'm doing way more work for not much more money. Has anyone else been in this spot and figured out a good way to talk about a real raise?

Man that is such a classic move. My last boss did the exact same thing, gave me a "promotion" to shift lead for like a buck fifty more. After three months of the extra headaches, I just laid out all the new tasks I was doing and asked for a meeting. Told him straight up the current rate didn't match the job.

Yeah, it feels like every business does this now, like they hope you'll just be happy with the title and ignore the money. They get way more work out of you for almost no extra cost. It's the same with making you do three jobs for the pay of one, they just call it "being a team player." When did we all agree that more responsibility shouldn't actually come with real pay?
