inThe day a mentor showed me his first line of code from 1985
Oh man that takes me back. A buddy of mine who was coding since the early 80s showed me his first program once too. It was this goofy little text adventure game he wrote in BASIC on a Commodore 64. Just a bunch of IF/THEN statements and random GOTO jumps. Looked like a total mess by modern standards but you could tell he poured his heart into it. He said it took him like three months just to get the inventory system working. Makes you realize how far we've come when people today complain about frameworks being hard to learn.

inBinged Black Mirror all wrong for years - found out last week
Yeah I was the same way honestly. I always thought watching more than two episodes was just laziness. But then I tried binging The Wire over a weekend and it completely flipped my thinking. You catch so many small details and the story flows way better. Did you have a specific show that changed your mind on it?

inThe moment I realized the Great Pyramid had 2.3 million stone blocks
Is that really one every three minutes? I never did the math either, that's wild.

inOld timer told me to stop quenching every heat. Changed my whole approach.
Your buddy's onto something for sure... that old timer trick with the soap or wax on the bit really does cut down on the snapping. Most folks don't realize it's the heat buildup that weakens the metal, not just the pressure you're putting on it. Something about the lubricant letting the bit slide instead of grabbing and torquing. I actually tested it on some cheap hardware store bits and got double the life out of them. Just don't use too much or it gums up the flutes... a light swipe does the job.
