Rant: losing a shoe at a show in Tryon cost me the whole day
Had a horse throw a shoe in the warmup ring at Tryon last Saturday, so I'm crouched in the dirt swapping it while the class runs. Anyone else carry a spare set of nails in their truck for days exactly like that?
Funny how the small stuff always picks the worst possible moment to fall apart, right? Losing a shoe in the warmup ring is basically the horse version of your phone dying right when you need directions. Same law of the universe that makes your truck battery quit in the vet clinic parking lot on a Sunday. That's why the spare nails and the duct tape live in the trailer year round, not because you plan for it but because the day you don't have them is the day you need them. Tryon just has a way of charging you a whole day for one little mistake.
