Passed on a $58k job with a raise because I asked one question about their last accountant
The recruiter pushed hard for me to take it, but I asked why their previous person left after 7 months and got a 10 second pause. Turns out they'd cycled through 3 people in 2 years and called it "growing pains." Trust your gut when the answers get weird, has anyone else dodged a bullet just by asking one simple question in the interview?

Honestly I used to roll my eyes at stuff like this, thought people were just being picky. Then I watched a friend ignore the same red flag and she was gone in 6 months. That 10 second pause says everything.
