Found a hidden framing trick from an old timer in Detroit last month
Was helping a buddy frame a basement wall near Dearborn and this retired carpenter walked by. He saw us struggling with a tricky corner and showed us how to use a 2x4 block as a guide for marking stud spacing faster. Saved us like 20 minutes on one wall alone. Anyone else pick up random tips from strangers on jobsites?

Had that happen with an old plasterer in Toledo, changed how I do drywall patches forever.

Old timers know stuff you can't find in any manual. Had a roofer in Flint show me how to nail shingles without splitting them in cold weather, just a simple angle change. Those random walk-up lessons stick with me way longer than any YouTube tutorial.

Funny you mention that, I heard some local contractor say the same thing about learning more from old guys on the job than any online video.
