Two-part foam ruined my trim job until I went back to wood shims

I had a project in St. Louis last month, 14 windows, and I tried the spray foam trick for setting jambs. Everything shifted overnight, gaps opened up, and I had to pull three units out and redo them. Went back to cedar shims and a 4 foot level, set all 14 in one day with zero callbacks. Is foam just for rough openings, or am I missing something?

Heard a guy say foam's only for filling gaps, not setting anything.

Wait, is that guy even using foam on real jobs? Foam's literally the main system in tons of builds now, it sets the whole panel. Whoever told him that's stuck in the old spray-foam days.
