Warning: check your nail gun hose before you frame a second floor in Waco
Was up on the second floor of a house in Waco last Tuesday, about 14 feet up on the wall, and my framing nailer hose had a worn spot right at the coupler. I bumped it on a stud and the hose blew off the fitting, nailer dropped, and I almost went with it. Nothing broke but my helper duct taped a spare hose on and we finished the wall, and now I run my hand down the whole line every morning before anyone climbs. If your hose has a bubble or a nick near the fitting, how long are you usually getting out of it before you swap it out?
Had the same thing happen on a remodel last year, hose had a small bubble right behind the coupler and I kept telling myself it was fine. It blew in the middle of a roof deck and scared the crap out of me. Now I just replace the whole hose the second I see any nick or bulge near the fitting, not worth trying to stretch more days out of it. They are cheap compared to a trip to the ER. Running your hand down the line every morning is smart, I do the same and also give the coupler a good tug before I clip in.
