Spent 4 hours on a stair nose yesterday only to find out the tack strip was the whole problem
Pulled up the old strip, put down new gripper, and the thing laid flat in 10 minutes, so has anyone else ever chased a ghost like that on a wrap job?

My dad used to spend whole Saturdays fixing the wrong thing on his truck, like swapping a fuel pump when it was just a loose ground wire. That kind of stuff happens everywhere, where the real fix is small and cheap but you skip right past it because the big job is staring you in the face. Glad your wrap laid down easy once the strip got sorted.
