Finally got paid 4 months late on a $2,800 flooring job
Homeowner in Ballard kept ghosting me after I finished the install, but I showed up to his yard sale last Saturday and asked about the invoice right there in front of his neighbors. He wrote me a check on the spot. Anyone else have luck with the public embarrassment approach?

Oh man, I feel your pain! I had a similar thing with a homeowner in Fremont who owed me $1,200 for a tile backsplash. He dodged me for weeks until I ran into him at the local hardware store and just brought up the invoice real casual while we were both in line. He turned beet red and paid me right there with his credit card. Sometimes you gotta catch them off guard when they can't make an excuse or run away. Did he act all surprised or try to play it off like he forgot?

Haha, @ray_burns nailed it with that hardware store move. I had a guy owe me for a fence repair and I cornered him at the gas station, just handed him the invoice while he was pumping gas. He stammered something about "oh yeah, it slipped my mind" but I saw the panic in his eyes. Worked like a charm though, he paid up right then and there.
