Had to choose between a 30-foot ladder or climbing the old oak tree to reach a tricky flue
I picked the ladder, but a squirrel dropped an acorn on my head halfway up and I nearly dropped my brush. Anyone ever had a wildlife encounter mid-job?

Totally get that. Feels like nature has a weird sense of humor when you're trying to work. I've had birds dive bomb me and wasps build nests right where I need to be. It's like the universe is reminding us we're just guests in their space, even when we're on the clock. Makes you pay more attention to your surroundings for sure.

Yeah, the "guests in their space" thing hits hard, @theacooper. I once had a whole family of squirrels decide my attic vent was their new condo complex during a project. You're right, it totally forces you to slow down and notice all the little dramas happening right outside the window.

My friend Mark had a robin build a nest on his porch light last spring. It laid three blue eggs right above his front door, @tarar38. He couldn't use that light for weeks and had to sneak in and out like a secret agent to avoid bothering them. He said watching the babies finally learn to fly made all the hassle worth it.

Well, isn't that just nature reminding us who really runs the show? I get that some folks see it as a gentle message about sharing the planet, but honestly, I think we can take it too far. I had a raccoon family move into my chimney last fall, and after three days of listening to them scratch and fight at midnight, I called a trapper. Sometimes you just need to get the job done and not turn every critter encounter into a life lesson.
