inMy extension ladder slipped on a wet roof last Tuesday
Yeah that "extra minute" thing is so true for so much stuff. It's like we all know the safer way but talk ourselves out of it to save a tiny bit of time.

inI finally stopped fighting my oven's hot spot after a string of burnt bread
It's wild how many appliances need these little hacks to work right. My old dishwasher only ran if you jiggled the door handle a certain way. We end up with a whole set of weird rituals just to use basic stuff we bought.

inA client in Seattle said my 'ask me anything' approach was too open and it actually helped
Totally agree with what Andrew was getting at with that cat map thing. Read an article once about how our brains just shut down when faced with a totally blank page or a huge task with no clear first step. It's like the brain goes, "Nope, too much, not doing it." Giving someone even a tiny, simple starting point is the key to getting past that mental block. It doesn't even have to be a good step, just any step at all to break the ice.

inJust learned how much property taxes can jump after buying
Yeah, a 40% jump is rough. You have to expect it and put money aside each month just for taxes. It's the only way to not get blindsided.

inI just wrote my first program that actually ran without errors on the 12th try. Why did that feel so huge?
That "bam, it just works" moment is a bit too clean for real grease stains. Usually you're on your third round of degreaser, scrubbing with a stiff brush until your arms burn, and it fades slowly over a couple days. The win is real, but it's more of a slow, grimy battle than a sudden magic trick.
