Had a lady bring in a poodle that was NOT a poodle

This was at my shop in Springfield about three months back. She insisted her 'rare teacup poodle' just needed a trim, but the dog was clearly a terrier mix with a totally different coat type. I tried to explain the cut she wanted wouldn't work, and she said, 'Just make him look like the picture I showed you.' I had to turn her away because I wasn't going to ruin that dog's hair. Has anyone else had a client who was just completely wrong about their own pet's breed?

Ugh, my friend had a client convinced their mutt was a purebred labradoodle (it was just a very scruffy terrier, honestly). She spent twenty minutes trying to explain why the doodle cut wouldn't work.

Make him look like the picture" is the real problem here. People get a certain look in their heads and just will not let it go. But is it really that big a deal if a dog gets a slightly different haircut? The coat grows back.

Oh man, the "rare teacup poodle" line got me. I swear some people just believe whatever the seller told them and never question it. Good on you for turning her away, that's the right call even when it's awkward. It's so frustrating when they just want the picture and don't listen to what's actually possible for their dog's coat.
