Went back to an old client's place and saw my work from 8 years ago still holding up

I was driving through Maplewood last week and decided to stop by a house I pressure washed back in 2016. The driveway still looked clean, no moss growing in the cracks like the neighbors had. Made me think about how I used to just blast everything with hot water and hope for the best. Now I actually take time with soft washing and proper dwell times. Has anyone else run into old work and been surprised it lasted?

Huh, is it really that surprising that something you did a few years ago didn't fall apart?

honestly @bell.jessica i think the real surprise is that i didn't accidentally burn the place down before it even got started. like i built a bookshelf a couple years ago and it's still standing but i swear i used like 3 different screw sizes and half the nails were bent. it's kind of a miracle it hasn't collapsed on my cat yet. i guess sometimes you get lucky even when you have no idea what you're doing. probably helps that it's just holding paperback thrillers and not like, a fridge or anything heavy.

@bell.jessica you gotta admit it's kind of funny how much we stress over this stuff. my bookshelf's been up for three years with the same bent nail situation and the only thing that's happened is a few paperbacks slid off because somebody's cat decided to use it as a launchpad. maybe we just like having a good story to tell.
