Client asked for 12 logo revisions over 4 months, then ghosted me at the same time my rent was due
Back in 2018 I was doing freelance design out of my tiny apartment in Portland and picked up a $900 logo gig for a food truck guy. Seemed easy until he started sending me Pinterest screenshots at 2am asking for 'just one tiny tweak.' Three weeks turned into four months and I was on revision number 12 with no end in sight. One Tuesday he stopped replying to emails completely, and my $750 rent was due that Friday. I sat there staring at my screen wondering if I should send a follow up or just eat the loss. I ended up sending a polite 'hey, checking in' message and he replied two days later saying he 'went a different direction' but still wanted to pay for my time. He sent me $200 through Venmo and that was it. Has anyone else had a client go ghost right when the invoice was supposed to come due?
