Shoutout to the client who ghosted after I bought $300 in custom fonts for their rebrand

They vanished right after I sent the invoice for the fonts, which I fronted the cash for (lesson learned, I guess). Anyone have a good contract clause for non-refundable upfront costs on digital assets?

Man, that's a brutal three hundred dollar lesson. I'd be so mad. You gotta have a line in your contract that says any outside assets bought for the project are billed up front before you even order them. That way you're never out of pocket. It's the only way to protect yourself from ghosts.

A freelancer forum I read had a guy lose two grand on custom software. He learned the hard way to get a deposit that covers all third party costs before starting any work. That upfront billing rule is non-negotiable.

Contracts are just paper if the client won't pay.
