Had a client ghost me after they said they needed 'all the revisions' upfront last spring

I once had a client in Austin who told me they wanted unlimited edits baked into the contract so they could "perfect everything." I ignored the red flag cause they seemed nice and paid a deposit. After 14 rounds of tiny changes over 6 weeks, they stopped answering emails with the final payment still due. Has anyone else learned the hard way that unlimited revision promises always spell trouble?

A painter buddy had a client ask for 27 paint samples before she finally admitted she was colorblind.

The worst part is they think they're being smart by asking for everything upfront. Like hiding your hand early in poker. They don't realize you're just gonna charge more for that upfront because you know exactly what you're in for.

Always get it in writing and add a cushion line item.
