That $2,500 retainer client who asked for 4 revisions on every draft

Is it just me or does this kind of thing happen way more often than people let on? Like the coworker who asks for "just a quick favor" but it turns into a whole week of extra work. Or the friend who wants your opinion on something but actually just wants you to agree with every change they already made. It's all the same pattern where people use your time like it's unlimited. They don't realize that every revision costs something even if it's not a dollar amount.

oh man @dylan_ward you nailed it. happens all the time. had this one friend who asked me to "just take a look at their resume real quick". ended up rewriting the whole thing for them over three days. they didn't even say thanks after. just asked if i could look at their cover letter next. people think your time is free just because you're good at something. drives me nuts.

Wait is it just me or does @the_drew's resume friend sound like they were screenwriting a request? "Take a look real quick" is the official code phrase for "clear your schedule for a week." But heres what gets me. Have you ever noticed how those same people never seem to offer their own time back to you when you need something? Like they expect you to treat your skills like a vending machine but their time is made of gold.
