I thought a $25 smart power strip was a gimmick until my electric bill dropped $18
Bought one of those strips that cuts power to the plugs when the TV is off because my brother in Akron kept bugging me about phantom load, and I mostly did it to get him to stop. Three months in, the bill for my basement setup went from around $60 to $42 a month, which is small but it's real money. What's the dumbest cheap thing you've done that actually moved your usage numbers?
