My $300 heat pump water heater paid for itself in 8 months

Swapped my old electric unit in March after the power bill hit $210. The new one cost $1,200 installed with a rebate. My bill dropped to $140 average by summer. That's $70 a month saved, so the math worked faster than I thought. Anyone else run the numbers on one of these, or did you stick with tankless?

Honestly those savings look good on paper but you're ignoring the tradeoffs, mine takes way longer to recover after back to back showers and the compressor noise is annoying in the garage. Plus that $1,200 upfront could've sat in a high yield account or gone toward a solar setup instead of betting on future rates. I'll stick with my gas tankless, it's dumb simple and I don't have to babysit a rebate form.
