My neighbor in Denver saw me composting and asked if I was 'feeding the dirt'

He was totally serious, and I had to explain the whole process of turning food scraps into soil. Has anyone else had a funny misunderstanding while trying to do something eco-friendly?

Wow, that's a new one. It makes you wonder what other basic ideas people just never learned. Like, did he think vegetables just grew in the grocery store? What was his guess for where the black dirt in bags at the garden center comes from?

Remember my friend who asked why store-bought lemons have seeds but lemonade doesn't? She genuinely thought they bred seedless lemons just for juice boxes. I mean, she's smart, but that logic just broke my brain for a second.
