Put a rain barrel under my downspout in Omaha and the math did not work out
I hooked up a 55 gallon barrel to my back downspout in Omaha last April, mostly to water the tomatoes and cut my water bill. Figured I would save maybe $20 a month. Instead the thing filled in one storm on June 3rd and I ended up using about 10 gallons a week on the garden, so most of it just sat there. Turns out my bill only went down $4 a month, way less than the $60 I paid for the barrel and diverter. Anyone else run a barrel for a full season and get real numbers out of it, or did I just size mine wrong?
