Update on the rain barrel project...

I finally got around to sealing the old wooden barrel with beeswax instead of a plastic liner. The beeswax one is holding up way better after three months of rain, and it just feels more... complete, you know? Anyone else try a natural sealant for water collection?

Read somewhere it takes about eight pounds of honey to make one pound of wax.

Wow, that's a crazy amount of honey! My friend tried beekeeping last year and totally freaked out when she learned this. She said watching the bees work after that felt different, like every bit of wax in the hive was this huge investment. It made her way more careful when she harvested, because she didn't want to take what cost them so much. Really puts the whole thing in perspective.
