A guy at the IMTS booth in Chicago bet me $50 I couldn't hold 0.0005 on a warm machine
He walked up while I was checking a boring bar and told me my finish looked like a beaver chewed it, then made me run the same part 6 times as the spindle heated up. By pass 4 my last dimension had walked almost 3 tenths and he just smiled and said coolant temp is a liar. How many of you actually let a machine warm up before you trust a tight number, or am I the only one who got humbled by a stranger at a trade show?
