Rant: my brother in law said skip tutorials and just build something, so I built a calculator and spent 2 days lost in one error
He builds websites for a living out in Boise and kept telling me tutorials are a trap, just pick a project and google when you get stuck. So I did that with a basic calculator in Python and hit an error where I forgot to change my input from a string to a number. Spent two days on it, googling everything except the actual fix, because I did not know enough to even search the right words. Turns out he was half right. The project did teach me more than any video, but only after I went back and read up on types. What is the smallest project that actually stuck for you when you were starting out?
