That $60 hand grinder turned out to be a bad deal...
I picked up a ceramic burr hand grinder from a shop in Portland for about $60, thinking it would save me from buying a cheap electric one. After three months of use, the burr started slipping on the beans and I got inconsistent grounds every single morning. I tried tightening it but the plastic housing cracked within a week. Has anyone else had luck with a metal burr model under $100?

Grabbed an old metal burr grinder off a buddy who upgraded, and it's still going strong after two years. @angela728 probably would have just smashed the beans on the sidewalk with a rock. That ceramic burr failure you had sounds like every cheap plastic grinder I've ever seen.
