Used to hate pre-ground coffee until the shop in Portland showed me their grinder settings

I was that guy who insisted on grinding beans fresh every single morning. Drove me crazy waiting for the kids to get out the door. Then the barista at Heart Roasters in Portland let me taste their batch brew from beans ground 4 hours earlier. I honestly couldn't tell the difference blind. She said their grinder is dialed in perfect and they store it in an airtight container. I'm not saying I'll never grind fresh again but for rushed mornings it actually works. Anyone else found a specific shop or roaster whose pre-ground blew your mind?

Fresh ground is always better even if you can't taste it, it's the principle of the thing.

What's next, letting the roaster brew it for you too? Might as well have them chew the beans first and save you the trouble.

Honestly I was team fresh grind all the way until I tried the pre-ground from Sightglass in SF. Picked up a bag of their espresso blend already ground on their finest setting and it was just as good as what I could do at home. Figured they know their grinder better than I ever will. Still grind fresh when I have time but I get it now.
