Visited that new cafe on 5th Street and they only serve coffee in paper cups, even for folks sitting down.

Is it about cutting costs or a weird environmental stance, and does that change how the coffee tastes for you?

Paper cups for everyone, huh. Feels like drinking coffee in a waiting room. Probably just a cost thing wrapped in a fake green excuse. The taste is definitely off, like a little bit of cardboard sneaks in. Real eco-friendly would be washing a mug, not this.

Fake green excuse"... that's a pretty bold way to put it.

Yeah I brought my own travel mug for a while. The baristas at my local spot got used to it, they just pour the drink right in. Took a week to make it a habit but now I never get that paper taste.

Wait, you actually like the paper cups? I stopped using them years ago because the cardboard taste ruins cheap coffee and it's not much better with expensive stuff. The whole "eco friendly" angle is a joke anyway since most paper cups have plastic lining that makes them not really recyclable. I just bring my own mug now too, same as you. Baristas don't mind as long as you hand it to them clean.
