Warning: That cheap espresso machine mod you saw online ruined my grinder

I tried the pressurized basket trick on my old DeLonghi last week to save money on upgrades, and the basket buildup pushed coffee grounds back into the burrs. Had to replace the whole grinder unit for $85. Has anyone else had a simple mod backfire like this?

and here's the thing nobody's talking about with those pressurized baskets - they're basically a band-aid for a machine that's already working against you. my buddy tried that same trick on his Gaggia and ended up with coffee sludge in places he didn't even know existed. the real kicker is that those $30 mods end up costing you way more in the long run when they mess with the machine's internal pressure balance. a $85 grinder replacement sounds rough but at least you caught it before it killed the whole machine.
