Always thought variant covers were a scam until last Saturday
I used to roll my eyes at people paying $40 for a different drawing on the same comic. Then I found a Skottie Young variant of a book I actually loved at my local shop in Austin and now I get why folks hunt for them. Has anyone else changed their mind on something you thought was just hype?

Different drawing on the same comic" is exactly how I still see it, sorry @kellyallen.

Yeah the "different drawing on the same comic" thing was exactly how I saw it too. But then I grabbed a Peach Momoko cover for a Daredevil issue and something just clicked. It made me actually want to display the book on my shelf instead of bagging it and forgetting about it. I still don't buy variants for stuff I don't follow, but for a series I'm into it feels worth the extra few bucks.

Totally agree @kellyallen, that Peach Momoko cover got me too. I snagged one for a random X-Men issue and now I actually look forward to flipping to it on my shelf instead of just stacking it.
