Back in 2015, a friend at a con said my collection was just a pile of books
He pointed at my long boxes and said, 'You're not a curator, you're a hoarder.' It hit me hard because I had about 300 comics just stacked in a closet. I started organizing them by story arc and character, not just issue number. Now I actually read and share them instead of just owning them. Has anyone else had a friend give them tough love about their collecting habits?

Honestly, that's a solid wake-up call. I had a buddy tell me my game collection was just a shelf of plastic cases gathering dust. Started actually playing through my backlog instead of just buying more, and it totally changed the hobby for me.

My Steam library hit 400 untouched games before I realized I was just collecting icons. Now I force myself to finish at least one old game before I let myself buy anything new. It makes each new purchase feel earned, not just another thing to forget about. The hobby stopped being about having stuff and started being about actually doing the thing.

Wait, but is it really that big of a deal? They're just games, not a life goal. Sometimes buying them is the fun part, and you can always play them later if you want. Making rules about it feels like turning a hobby into homework. Let people enjoy things how they want, even if that means having a big library.
