Can we talk about how I bagged comics wrong for 15 years?

I used to put the bag flap on the left side, so the adhesive strip sat right over the top staple. Last month I saw a collector at a con in Austin flip it to the right and I finally noticed the back cover crease I'd been leaving on every single issue since 2008. Anyone else damage their pulls for over a decade before catching on?

Hold on, is a tiny crease on the back cover really gonna kill the value? I mean, if you're not selling, it's just paper in a bag.

and honestly, from someone who's had to sell a collection before, that crease matters way more than you'd think. even if you're not planning to sell now, life happens and you might need the cash later. i've seen buyers pass on books over way smaller stuff, like a dinged corner or a price sticker that left residue. if you're keeping it for yourself, sure, it's just paper and nobody's gonna judge you, but why not keep it in the best shape you can for like ten extra seconds of care. it's one of those things you can't un-do once it's messed up.
