I had a client in Dallas last month who wanted silver but walked out looking green. Took me 3 color corrections and 6 hours to fix it. What's the longest you spent undoing a mistake?

That $60 carb synch tool from Amazon saved my bacon on a 172

Picked up one of those cheap four-cylinder carb synch gauges for a Lycoming O-320 that was running rough as hell. Took about 45 minutes and it smoothed right out, no more vibration on climbout. Anyone else use those budget synch tools or do you stick with the expensive blue one?

Hit 10,000 bricks laid this morning on that church job in Akron

I been keeping count in a little notebook for years, nothing official. But I added it up at lunch today and realized I passed 10,000 bricks just on this one project. That number surprised me because I never thought of my work in totals like that. It made me think about all the walls I've built and never really looked back at. Has anyone else ever tracked a specific milestone like that on a job?

My sister told me to skip the last chapter of our book club pick

For our last read, 'The Silent Patient', my sister flat out said, 'Don't read the last ten pages until the meeting.' I thought she was nuts and read it anyway. At the debate, everyone who followed her advice had a way better talk about themes and motives, while the rest of us just argued about the twist. Has anyone else tried hiding the ending to get a better club chat?

That farmer's market in Austin made me rethink my whole compost setup

I was at the sustainable living booth near the entrance last Saturday and a guy from the city's waste department said 40% of compostable stuff from markets still ends up in landfills because people bag it wrong. He showed me a pile of plastic-lined bags mixed in with the food scraps from just that morning. I was reading an old trade manual from the 70s and found out they used to add egg whites to the mix for a harder finish

Found this beat-up manual at a garage sale in Tacoma for two bucks. It was from 1975, and in the section on high-end interior floors, it literally said to add "the whites of six eggs per cubic yard" to the final mix for extra hardness and a smooth, almost polished look. My grandad, who was in the trade, said he remembered hearing about that but thought it was just a story. Has anyone actually tried this, or know why it worked? Seems wild compared to modern admixtures.

Found it in a forestry extension guide from the University of Minnesota. I've been using the same ground contact rated stuff for everything, but they say a specific copper naphthenate soak makes a huge difference.
