That feedback from a forum regular about my gig descriptions changed everything

Some guy named Dave pointed out my headline was just a list of my software skills instead of what I actually solve for people. Swapped out the wording the next morning and got 3 inquiries within 48 hours. Anyone else had a random stranger fix their entire sales pitch?

Nah you're good but I think you got a little lucky there. Most people who give feedback just say stuff like "make it pop" or whatever without actually telling you what to change. Dave actually pointed out the real problem which is that nobody cares about your software list. They care about the result. Think of it like a mechanic listing all his tools instead of saying he fixes your car so it runs smooth again. You might want to go back through your other gigs and check if you're making the same mistake with those too.

That thing about checking your other gigs is solid advice, but it makes me wonder if Dave's approach might actually create a new kind of problem. If everyone starts writing their gigs like "I'll fix your car" it might end up sounding too salesy and lose the trust of people who actually want to know what tools are being used. There's a middle ground where you explain the result without hiding the process completely. Maybe the real trick is figuring out which customers care about the how versus just the what.

Ugh for real. It's wild how rare actual useful feedback is.
