I finally had a dive supervisor call me out on my gear setup

This was maybe 2 years ago on a bridge job near Norfolk, and this old timer named Pete just stopped me before I jumped in and said 'your harness is gonna kill your back by noon.' He showed me how he rigs his weight belt lower and cinches the crotch strap tight so the load sits on your hips instead of your shoulders. Has anyone else had a veteran diver just straight up change how you do something basic like gear fitting?

That harness fix sound like it saved your lower back, did he also show you a different way to trim your tank strap?

Is it really that big of a deal to adjust a tank strap though? I mean, I've just been yanking mine tight for years and never thought twice about it. @the_robin probably got a good trick but I bet there's like ten different ways that all work fine. At the end of the day, my back hurts from schlepping gear around, not from a slightly crooked strap.

Huh, honestly sounds like a lot of fuss over something that probably works just fine the other way too... used to always just yank mine tight and never gave it a second thought.
