Update: The city inspection delayed our slab for hours.
We had everything set for the pour, but the inspector was late and picked on small stuff. The mix began to harden before we could get it smooth.

Classic! Inspectors love to show up late and find problems that don't matter. It's like they get bonus points for wasting our time. Now we get to enjoy cracked slabs for years to come.

On a garage foundation in Tempe, our inspector took two hours just to show up. He spent another hour pointing out trivial code things like conduit placement. The whole crew was just standing around watching the clock. We lost the prime pouring window and had to add water to the mix, which weakened the slab. It still cracks every winter without fail.
