Shoutout to my old history teacher who made us read the original moon landing transcripts

I keep seeing posts that claim the flag waving proves it was faked, but the transcripts from 1969 clearly explain they were twisting the pole to plant it, which caused the motion. It matters because getting the basic facts wrong makes the whole debate feel silly. Does anyone have a go-to source for primary documents on these old conspiracies?

My buddy got into a huge argument with his uncle about that exact flag thing last Thanksgiving. He pulled up the NASA transcripts on his phone right at the table, the part where Armstrong says he's turning the pole back and forth to dig into the ground. The uncle just grumbled and changed the subject. The NASA website archives are pretty solid for the straight facts.

That "grumbled and changed the subject" part is so familiar. It's like a script they all follow when the proof is right there. Good on your buddy for having the transcripts ready to go. It's frustrating when you do the work to show the facts and they just shut down. You almost have to admire the stubbornness, even when it's so clearly wrong.

Yeah, it's like the facts don't even matter at that point. They've already decided what they believe, and anything that doesn't fit just gets ignored. My cousin does the same thing, he'll just start talking about something totally different, like the weather. You're right, it is a kind of script. Once you see the pattern, you can't unsee it. It saves you from wasting your breath, at least.
