inA client's blunt email about my invoices made me switch up my whole system
Wow, so my old invoices were basically late payment invitations.

inA client in Boise once tried to pay me with a jar of coins and a firm handshake.

inJust realized my resume typo cost me an interview at a firm in Chicago
You're right, @mia102, it's crazy how much weight gets put on small mistakes. I got an email back once where the hiring manager just corrected my spelling of "their" and ignored all my questions. It felt like they were looking for a reason to say no. That focus on tiny flaws makes the whole process feel unfair, like you're set up to fail. Your point about a wrong number on a resume is so true, it can totally derail the talk.

inShoutout to the client who brought their mom to our design meeting
Wyatt's point about being too rigid making us miss good ideas is spot on. I read a blog post last week about a graphic designer who almost lost a big account because they refused to let the client's quiet intern join a call. That intern ended up being the only one who noticed the logo looked wrong on dark mode. Sticking to the "rules" can sometimes blind you. If the mom saw a real problem with the color mix, that awkward meeting was worth it. The goal is a good final product, not just a perfect meeting.

inJust realized my 'simple' visa run to Penang turned into a 72 hour nightmare
Honestly, this feels like the rule for any official process. The simpler they say it is, the more likely something will go wrong.
