Just realized my resume typo cost me an interview at a firm in Chicago
I was applying for a marketing manager role and had 'managed a team of 12' but my resume said 'managed a team of 1'. They asked about it in the screening call and I sounded totally unprepared. Has anyone else had a small mistake blow up like that?

It's amazing how tiny errors can change how people see us. I see this all the time with simple typos in work emails that make the sender look careless. That one wrong number on your resume became the only thing they focused on, which isn't fair. It shifts the whole conversation away from your real skills. We put so much pressure on every detail being perfect, and it's exhausting. A single digit shouldn't undo years of experience.

You're right, @mia102, it's crazy how much weight gets put on small mistakes. I got an email back once where the hiring manager just corrected my spelling of "their" and ignored all my questions. It felt like they were looking for a reason to say no. That focus on tiny flaws makes the whole process feel unfair, like you're set up to fail. Your point about a wrong number on a resume is so true, it can totally derail the talk.

Ever feel like they're just looking for reasons?
