The moon landing footage quality flip I noticed last week

I was comparing the original Apollo 11 broadcast from 1969 to the 2009 remastered version side by side. The old footage is super grainy, but the new one looks like they filmed it yesterday with modern cameras. People say it's because they found the lost tapes at a film lab in Pennsylvania in 2006, but there's been no clear paper trail on how they were stored or who had them. My buddy in Houston swears the colors and shadows are too perfect for a 40 year old tape, and that got me wondering about the whole restoration process. I even tried matching up the timing of the announcement with the release date, and it feels rushed for that kind of work. So, does anyone here believe the tapes were actually recovered, or is it more likely they used software to clean up the old frames? I'd love to see the math on the data recovery claims.

My buddy worked that lab, said the vault logbook had blank pages for those weeks.
