Signed a 9 page gym contract in March that auto renews unless I mail a letter 60 days out, who writes this stuff?
I joined a gym near me back in March and the guy said cancel anytime, but the actual paper says I have to send certified mail 60 days before my term ends or I'm locked in another year. I get that they need some notice but certified mail feels like a trap to make people forget, has anyone fought a clause like this and won?

Ugh, that certified mail thing is such a joke. I had a similar deal a few years back where they wanted a written letter 30 days out and of course I missed it by like 4 days, so they hit me with another full year. The part that gets me is the guy telling you "cancel anytime" when the paper says the total opposite, that should be on them. I never fought mine and just ate it, but I've heard people have had luck if you can show the sales pitch didn't match the contract, so maybe keep any texts or notes you have from that day.
