The vendor who slipped in an auto-renew clause I almost missed
I was sitting at my kitchen table in Chicago last month, going over a software contract from a vendor I'd used for two years. Buried on page 8, in 8-point font, there was a clause that said my annual subscription ($1,200) would auto-renew unless I gave 90 days written notice. I almost signed it without seeing it until my cat walked across my keyboard and highlighted the paragraph. I called the vendor and got them to strike the auto-renewal and change it to a manual opt-in every year. Has anyone else run into sneaky renewal language like that?

Found credit card auto-enroll terms buried in a gym membership once, total scumbag move.

Did you catch that in the fine print or were they pushing you to sign on a tablet where they just point to a box? I've seen gyms hide recurring charges in loyalty program terms too, trying to pretend it's a benefit. How did you even spot the auto-enroll language buried in there?

Gyms are the worst for sneaky fine print like that.
