Torn between a late fee clause and a 'good faith' email, picked the email
I manage a small rental property in Pittsburgh, and last month my tenant paid 11 days late. My contract had a $75 late fee clause, but I also had this friendly 'reach out before charging' note in the lease. I went with the email route, and the tenant paid the next day with a long apology. But now I'm second guessing if I set a bad precedent. Anyone else pick the soft option and regret it when the next late payment showed up?
