Used to sign NDAs blind until a 12 page scope creep clause bit me in court last year

I used to just skim non-disclosure agreements and sign whatever the other party handed over. Then I got hit with a clause buried on page 9 that said any discussion about the project counted as a breach. Cost me $2,300 in lawyer fees just to get out of it. Now I read every single line and flag anything that sounds vague before I put my name down. Anyone else run into a hidden clause that looked innocent but turned out to be a trap?

Man, that's brutal. I sign stuff all the time for my business and never thought about "discussion" being a breach like that. $2,300 just to get out of a NDA is crazy money for a lesson learned the hard way. Now I'm gonna double check every line about what counts as talking about the project. Thanks for the heads up, that's the kind of trap that could wreck a small business.

Wait, my lawyer charged triple that just to tell me to stop talking about my cat's name?
