Framing gun jammed mid-job on a Friday afternoon in July
I was about 80 nails into a roof sheathing job outside Nashville when my nailer just locked up solid. Pulled the trigger and nothing, not even a hiss. Tried clearing it on the fly but the piston was stuck bad. Ended up losing 3 hours driving to the rental place for a backup and then fixing the old one that night. Has anyone else had a framing nailer completely die like that on a deadline? What did you do to get back on schedule?

Been there. That July heat kills tools.

Backup nailer on the truck always after that first time. I keep a spare Paslode and a cheap pneumatic in the trailer now. For the jam, try a little penetrating oil on the piston and let it sit ten minutes before you pry it loose. If you're in a pinch, call around to local tool repair shops - some of them will let you borrow a loaner if you explain the situation. Also, check your compressor's output if you're running pneumatic; low pressure can cause jams that feel like a dead gun.
