My old boss in Denver said stop using 2x4s for blocking, and it finally clicked on a deck job
He told me that 12 years ago and I ignored him until last month when I was framing a deck in Aurora and the blocking kept splitting. Now I use 2x6 scraps and it's way faster. Anyone else have a mentor tip that took way too long to sink in?

Man, 2x4s held up fine for decades, sounds like user error more than the lumber.
