Am I the only one who has family that just takes tools from my shop?

My cousin grabbed my angle grinder for a home project and returned it with a worn-out disc, so now I keep my best gear locked up.

Yeah the worn disc is annoying, but that's not even my main worry. When people borrow stuff like an angle grinder and use it wrong, they're cooking the motor or messing up the bearings without even knowing. They just see the sparky part and go to town. A new disc is a few bucks, but burning out my whole tool is a real loss. That's why my good stuff is locked up now too.

Wait, they brought it back with the disc already shot?

Totally get that, @rosecarr. I started loaning out my old corded grinder and keep the good battery one hidden.

My neighbor borrowed my drill last year and returned it with the chuck completely seized. That's a permanent loan now. @the_finley, people absolutely bring stuff back totally wrecked and act like it's fine. My new rule is if you don't own one yourself, you don't know how to use mine. The corded decoy is a solid plan.
