Borrowed my good saw and returned it with a bent blade in Salt Lake
Last month I loaned my table saw to a buddy for a weekend fence job. He brought it back dirty but said it ran fine. First cut I made, the blade wobbled so bad it threw sparks and left burn marks all down a maple board. Turns out he hit a buried nail and kept going until the arbor bent. He never said a word about it, just left it in my driveway at 6 AM. Have any of you had tools come back damaged with zero heads up, and how do you handle it without torching the friendship?

Burying a nail in a blade teaches you real quick that the saw is the victim here, not the fence job. Get him to split the cost of a new blade with you, that way you're fixing the problem without making him feel like a kid in trouble.
