My cordless angle grinder gave up the ghost on a Friday afternoon job

I was cutting some old bolts off a steel frame in a garage in Boise, and the motor just quit with a pop and a bit of smoke. I had to run to the rental place and grab a corded one to finish, which set me back about forty bucks. What's a good brand for a tough cordless grinder that can handle a full day of cutting?

Oof, that's the worst time for a tool to die!

Come on, it's just a tool. People act like the world ends when something breaks. There's always another way to get the job done, even if it's a bit slower. Calling it the "worst time" seems like a bit of an overreaction. Stuff breaks all the time, you just deal with it.

@garcia.cameron I get what you're saying about just dealing with it, but timing really does matter. Losing a tool in the middle of a critical cut or a tight deadline can throw off the whole workflow, especially if you're running on a job site with no backup nearby. It's not about the world ending, it's about stopping momentum and having to scramble for a replacement when every minute counts. A broken tool at the start of a project is annoying, sure, but one that dies mid-operation can mess up a whole day's progress. So yeah, sometimes there really is a worst time for it.
