Swapped my 25 foot tape for a laser measurer on trim work and I keep going back and forth
I used to measure every window and door opening with a tape and a pencil stub behind my ear, then re-measure twice because I never trusted the first number. Picked up a Bosch laser about 6 months ago at the supply house in Tacoma for around $90 and cut my measuring time on a 12 opening trim job from almost an hour down to about 15 minutes. For those of you doing interior trim, do you trust the laser for cut lists or do you still run a tape on anything over 10 feet?
A 12 opening trim job in 15 minutes? That math is blowing my mind right now. I've been running trim for years and I budget at least 45 minutes to an hour just on measuring alone, and that's when things go smooth. Maybe I'm just slow but I can't picture knocking out that many openings that fast without feeling like I skipped something. Cutting trim is one thing, but measuring every opening that quick would have me double checking every board before it hits the saw. Not saying you're wrong, just that number is hard for me to wrap my head around. Laser or tape, 15 minutes on 12 openings sounds like a whole different level of speed.
