Why does nobody talk about how cheap work belts wreck your back?

I used to swear by those $30 belts from the hardware store, you know the ones with the big plastic buckle. But after 6 months of cleaning houses with a pouches full of tools, I was popping ibuprofen every night. Then my chiropractor in Austin told me to get a proper padded riggers belt that actually supports your hips. Tried a cheap one first, still hurt. Finally spent $85 on a real leather setup with a lumbar pad, and my back pain dropped by about 80% in 2 weeks. Anybody else dealt with back issues from skimping on a tool belt?

Oh man, your chiropractor must have a direct line to my wallet because I went through this exact same mess. I spent a whole year thinking my back was just broken from bad posture, lol. I had this cheap canvas belt from a discount tool store and it basically just cut into my hips while letting my whole spine take the weight. I finally caved and got a proper one with suspenders too, which made me look like a complete dork on site but my back finally stopped screaming at me. The stupid part is I spent way more on ibuprofen and heating pads than I would have just buying the right belt from the start.

Ngl, that suspender look is a rite of passage on every job site. Tbh I wore mine backwards for a whole week before someone told me.

Totally agree, and honestly this applies to so many things in life now. You see it with mattress toppers, work boots, even office chairs. People buy the cheapest option first, spend months in pain or discomfort, then finally drop real money on the thing that actually works and wonder why they didn't do it sooner. It's like we're trained to think spending more is a rip off until our bodies force us to learn the hard way.
